With living trees, the wood is protected by the bark and is nourished by its natural sap. Wood timber needs to be nourished in order to protect it from exposure to air/water/sun and from the effects of time. If wood is turned into timber and left untreated, it will dry out and rot away. So how do you protect and nourish your wooden furniture? According to Mr Gert Stapelberg from Ericssons Mattress and Pine, you could either “paint the wood or should you prefer to showcase the natural beauty of the wood, you could use Woodoc as the preferred product. Woodoc is a transparent wood finish that lasts; it enhances the texture and beauty of the wood by deeply penetrating and nourishing the wood and also by protecting it from exposure to sunlight and water.”
How does Woodoc work?
- It penetrates deeply into the wood and bonds with it, giving it a flexible yet tough and resistant surface finish
- It allows the wood to breath naturally by working in harmony with the wood, much like bark does, and helps combat ageing and deterioration
- It is flexible and doesn’t become brittle with age but stays in harmony with the wood
