The only way to shop for a mattress, is to lie down on it. At Ericssons, we insist that you stretch out on as many mattresses as you like to help you find the perfect fit. Whilst lying down, test the following:
- The “right” firmness. If the mattress is too hard, your body will try to compensate by frequently changing positions. If it’s too soft, your body will sink into it, causing the shoulders and hips to pinch in, leading to the spine curving and putting undue pressure on joints and muscles.
- Your sleeping positions. This will influence the mattress you choose. People who sleep on their sides will need more cushioning; those who sleep on their stomachs prefer a firmer mattress; back sleepers tend to fall in the middle.
- The size of the mattress. Choose your mattress considering how many people (and pets) will sleep on it, the amount of movement you need, the size of your bedroom and your budget.
